Why did you follow me all this way?
Will you never go away?
You’re shadowing me,
Cutting me down to size.
You move all about me…
Ride my back…
Cling onto my neck for dear life
You can have my back,
Just lose the grip.
I can hardly breathe sometimes
You don’t realize your strength,
And I can’t realize mine,
While carrying you too.
We really need to talk…
Figure out what went wrong
….Try to make it right.
I can’t ride shot gun anymore
And neither can you
We need to join forces
Lose the fight,
Win the war….
…..Love each other
Step together
Same pace,
Best friends.
I think it’s time….
Will you heal with me?

Can really relate to the poem “Little Girl” …it can be a struggle at times when she takes over and old wounds are allowed to resurface..but recognizing, acknowledging, loving and embracing her will calm her down and she will then learn to trust the adult you to take care of things and enjoy the new journey!
Well said!
Thank you for your feedback!
But sometimes you want to be the one to sit back and enjoy the ride! Lol!
But really..
More seriously, that is very good advice. There are many different ways of saying make peace with him or her and heal. I’d love to know how other people that have felt this way would describe the journey to healing.
Cheryl, I love the part about acknowledging, loving and embracing the child within to calm he or she down. Have you ever looked at Iyanla Vanzant’s book “Get Over It!, Thought Therapy for Healing the Hard Stuff”?; that book gets you thinking about automatic thought patterns that are triggered by words, memories or feelings.
Thank you Fred for sharing your thoughts and comments esp recommending the book….I will definitely check it out and read it! Anything that helps one gain more peace and personal growth is appreciated! 🙂
